Practically unknown beforehand, British actress Daisy Ridley is about to be thrown into the global spotlight after being cast in the highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII.

The rising star, previously known for roles in Mr Selfridge and Casualty, was plucked from relative obscurity by director JJ Abrams and producer George Lucas to feature in the next edition of the popular franchise alongside Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, reportedly playing the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia no less. Secrets about Ridley's role in the film will be revealed in December 18, 2015 with the sequel's release, however before then she'll next be seen on the big screen in another sequel, The Inbetweeners 2 (released August 8, 2014).
